Meet Dr. Wayne Tompkins

You are in good hands.  Dr. Wayne Tompkins enjoys spending time with his patients and listening to their health concerns.  That is what sets him apart from the rest...

Before expounding on Dr. Wayne's educational background, we feel it is worth your while to know about the doctor as a person, not just a practitioner.  Dr. Wayne grew up in northern Maine in the small town of Presque Isle.  His family moved there to raise potatoes.  Therefore, he learned early in his life how to work hard. But, he is thankful his family took some time to play hard and enjoy the beautiful New England beaches and to climb Mt. Katadhin (the northern endpoint of the Appalachian Trail.) Based on his beginning, Dr. Wayne believes that a balance between work and play is paramount to having a healthy body and mind.

On a more serious note, Dr. Wayne is acquainted with bodily pain.  He suffered from one nervous system trauma after another from an early age...being hit while riding his bike, having his neck cranked in an informal wrestling match, being hit head-on by a drunk driver, and the list goes on.  Needless to say, he feels your pain.

It was his mother's short battle with cancer and death at age 60 that motivated Dr. Wayne to pursue a profession in the health sciences.  He graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Minnesota in 2000. While in school, he was fortunate to work for the American Red Cross and taught certification classes in lifeguarding, CPR/First Aid and back safety.  After graduation, he took his MCAT and went through the grueling process of medical school applications.  Once again, he was faced with his own musculoskeletal health challenges.  He was very disappointed by the lack of answers and remedies available to him in the mainstream medical arena.  At this time he was treated by an alternative health practitioner and got immediate help.  His interest was piqued to say the least.  This stopped him in his tracks on the path to medical school.

Within a short time, Dr. Wayne was accepted to Parker College of Chiropractic.  He informed his new bride, Angie, that they were moving to Dallas in 2 weeks to begin his studies as a Chiropractic Physician!  After 3 years of year-round studies plus extra-curricular hours in Applied Kinesiology, Dr. Wayne completed his strenuous program in April of 2005.  Angie received her PHT degree (Put Hubby Through) on that same day!  Since then, Dr. Wayne has practiced in Cedar Hill, Texas; Italy and now in Hollister, Missouri.  He recently added Chinese Medicine to his bag of tricks and became certified in Acupuncture in the fall of 2007.  The recent accomplishment he is most proud of was to become the father of a little baby girl, Talia on May 17, 2008!
